For designer Nouran El-Marmari, MARAMRI has been a narration of her childhood, culture, and fascination with gemstones and fine metals. A fascination nurtured by her loving mother and grandmother who taught her about the unique and alluring properties of gemstones. With a grandfather who was the proprietor of a workshop and jewelry showrooms throughout Cairo Egypt, Nouran realized at a young age that jewelry can do more than fulfill a quest for style. It can serve as a tool of transformative adornment that creates and attracts positivity while connecting people from all walks of life.

Nouran would go on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Design from the American University of Sharjah which led to an illustrious 12-year career as a Promotion Director. Despite her success in the corporate world, she couldn’t escape her calling and completed training at the Gemological Institute of America. Armed with a new affinity for design, Nouran launched her eponymous collection that culminated at the intersection of astronomy and reality in New York in 2018.

The essence of MARMARI was born, each piece designed to play a symbolic role in the wearer’s life encouraging purpose, protection and self-love. Jewelry became Nouran’s love language, a way that she can nurture and bring joy to her global clientele. Every piece she designs is attached to a feeling, hope, milestone, or desire that the wearer can use to preserve a memory or manifest a future.

Marmari started with the vision of Mohamed El Marmari, known as Mohamed ElMaghraby referring to his Moroccan nationality, in Cairo, Egypt. He was the paternal grand father of Nouran El-Marmari and a jewelry pioneer who weaved stories using metal and stones. Nouran never got to meet her grandfather as he died at a very young age, but she felt that she knew him intrinsically through the pieces she inherited from him. Today, Marmari jewelry continues the legacy that started almost a century ago.
